"I am a London based artist. I qualified from Reading University in Fine Art in 1987 and have been painting ever since. My paintings are currently mostly of my children and are intended to be fun.
Starting from photographs, I make a sketch, simplifying and exaggerating facial features and surroundings. I work quickly with a palette knife on several pictures at once. I build up layers of paint, sometimes scraping off and starting again. I return to the original sketch and remove or add people. If the painting still does not work, I may start a new one on top. From my starting point I never have an idea of the finished picture, only that it will be thick with paint.
My paintings are mainly auto-biographical, most recently of my children – running in and out of the sea, climbing trees or just making faces. I have exhibited in many galleries most recently the Waterloo Gallery, London and taken part in various opens including the Royal Overseas League (award winner), the Whitechapel Open and the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition."
